The Lay Companions of Saint Francis of Assisi would like to say a huge thank you and express its deepest gratitude to the many wonderful men and women who give of themselves in assisting us regularly with our Outreach to the Fremantle and wider community.
In any one week, we are engaged in DELIVERING SOUP to the hungry, even making yummy cakes to cheer and delight the heart. Finding a HOME for those in need. Visiting our friend's in Jail and being of emotional support. Hosting and sharing in our MULTIFAITH GATHERINGS. Catching up on Saturdays for our general MEETUP. Feeling and thinking, praying and doing for all those around us. Jesus, as a great Master tells us that as we we do these things they are living prayer and more importantly prayer in action. Thank you again for your lovely lovely gifts. Br Francis Mary. It is with some concern that I write this information here on my Face Book page and on my Weebly page.
I did not realize initially that in our 300 Schools around the Western Australian community that all of the Chaplains in them are Christian in both faith and practice. Youth Care is the main body that supplies these men and women into our school's to teach and to care for our children. As a Christian myself I am most concerned that the Chaplains are all Christian and my proposal to Youth Care is that they seek out or explore other faith path and traditions and that their Chaplains become Pastoral Care worker's and that each of these men and women start to learn and to really go to a much deeper level of insight and awareness of what it means to not be a Christian. I have the deepest respect and love for these men and women yet I sense and see the need for Pastoral Care people to represent all of the Faith path and Traditions in our Community. So my suggestion and recommendation to Organisations such as Youth Care is that they seek out an Organisation that can teach their Chaplains about this. The children in our School's are not all Christian, they are a reflection of their parent's who may be Buddhist, Hindu, Muslin ect ect. All I am suggesting, and suggesting strongly is that Organisations such as Youth Care really look at this. Wouldnt it be lovely to have, say, a Buddhist nun being a Pastoral Care worker at one of our School's. Or perhaps a Muslim man being a Pastoral Care worker. I am suggesting that we move away from the name Chaplain and start using a more inclusive word such as Pastoral Care support, that we place into our School's men and women of all Faith path and traditions, that each person, grounded in their faith path have a sense of how the OTHER, worships and prays and lives. Please write to Youth Care or email them and suggest to them that this would be a valuable way to go in the future with their Organisation. blessings and I welcome all comment. Br Francis Mary Blessings All, the 6th Multifaith Gathering M'SEG, is happening tomorrow at the Trade Winds Hotel on 59 Canning Hwy, Fremantle.
A beautiful place to meet and to share friendship and conversation. All are welcome to stay later for a meal. The monies, between $10 and $20 goes to our Order to help with the continuation of this work, also to the various charities and programs that we are now running. Our Guest Speaker's tomorrow will be myself, and the Topic of conversation will be a little on what we do as a Religious Community, or Programs and all that this entails. Our second speaker is Olive, who will share some of her Aramaic prayer knowledge of the Lord's Prayer, the Our Father, with some movement as well. It will be a lot of fun. Thankyou for supporting this Gathering and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Blessings, Br Francis Mary. ( if you would like you name removed from the email list please email me on [email protected] ) It is with the deepest love and gratitude that the Lay Companions receive such a lovely gift from Dr David and Jane Parsons.
David and Jane have been of much support in the formation and setting up of our Religious Community over the last few years, always quick to provide help in any way needed. May our Lord bless you, may the beauty of his light shine upon you both and give you peace. Br Francis Mary The 6th MULTIFAITH GATHERING will take place on the 26th of July. 4 pm to 6pm at the Trade Winds Hotel. 59 Canning Hwy.
We have as one of our Guest Speaker's Olive, a woman who will take us through the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic. I am still looking for two other speakers. The Multifaith Gatherings are an initiative of a combined effort between Rabbi Sheryl and myself to create a safe place for people of different faith path and traditions to come together in a spirit of friendship. The Gatherings to date have been very exciting, with any number of men and women sharing a very personal and intimate encounter of what their faith means to them, how they practice and live it. PASTORAL CARE COURSE IN MULTIFAITH AWARENESS One of the initiatives that Rabbi Sheryl and I want to do is to create a Multifaith Pastoral Care course, one which enables men and women of different traditions learning how to go in and support any number of people in any number of institutions. This will be a Certificate Course and I am looking for participants. The course will have a fee attached to it, hopefully not very expensive. If you would be interested in doing this course, please contact me for further details. Blessings. |
